Bald eagles are solitary birds. A pair of eagles builds a nest in the top of a large tree near rivers, lakes and marshes. These birds prefer remote isolated areas where nobody disturbs them. Most nests are used for many years, but a pair may have several nests and use them alternatively. Both parents take part in incubation. There are usually two eggs in the nest, but only the strongest eaglet survives.
